I initially worked with recycled china and mixed media but after a visit to Ravenna in Italy to see the Byzantine mosaics and training in the traditional techniques with a hammer and hardie I now mix the two. I love the vibrant colours of the hand blown Smalti glass and the way the light bounces off the facetted rough surfaces of the glass and natural stone.
I work with Italian smalti glass, stone and mixed media on wood board. My mixed media can be anything from salvaged patterned bone china, coloured glass, buttons (lots of those!) to costume jewellery.
Italian artists such Gino Severini as this piece by Romolo Papa. They bring art to life with colour, texture and flowing movement.
